You can’t sit for too long at Breaking Bread Café out in Bethel without hearing the words; “I’ll have my usual” or “What am I having today?” The staff will know exactly which dish the customer wants or should have. This out of the way restaurant is worth the drive.
Opening Breaking Bread Café, was a labor of love for owners Steve and Barbara Eaffaldano in June of 2013. Being community oriented they had been looking for a location in the area to open a restaurant, then the property opened up and they knew they had found their location.
Some of their most popular dishes, such as homemade pork meatballs, fresh not frozen 7 oz. burgers cooked to order to any temperature, fresh vegetable or pasta salads, and chef salads, are definitely classics. However, Breaking Bread Café also serves up dishes that are gluten-free, vegetarian, or sugar-free. Customers are encouraged to explain a dietary restriction and the staff will happily help them find a dish or make a special item just for you.
The business is owned and operated by family members who believe in focusing on fresh made foods using local ingredients. So they make small batches of an item and when it’s out that’s it for the day. Fresh is important, like after testing many deli meats and not being happy with them they decided to bake their own ham, roast beef and turkey which means no by-product or other preservatives.
One thing the Eaffaldanos have focused on is listening to their customer and being flexible. Originally they offered self service, they listened, now they offer table seating and waitress service. They use key words like ‘responsive’ and ‘evolving’ when describing their plan of attack for their business. The café offers catering and is available for private parties.
Stop in soon, Steve and Barbara hope you will become regulars.
